You probably came to this page to see what my bold claim was.
Growing up you can’t help but notice the emphasis placed on religion. In history class, you study all of the wars that were fought over religion. Obviously, Religion is a big deal. I thought about it a lot and then when I was in college I figured it out.
Here is what I figured out.
#1 There is no absolute truth. There is only relative truth. Truth is relative to the individual. Nobody has to be wrong, everybody can be correct about religion.
The Dalai Lama and the Pope can both be correct about their beliefs. A born-again Christian and an average Muslim believe they are 100% correct in their beliefs. This is because belief is created from the mind of the individual.
The problem comes in because everybody thinks in terms of absolute truth. 2+2=4 and you can’t deny that. There is an absolute right and wrong truth there. This leads people to think that your beliefs must be wrong because they are different than theirs…..They
I have talked to devout Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Atheists, etc. There is no denying that they believe what they say. They are all 100% correct in their minds. This is easily explained if you allow for truth to be relative to the individual.
#2 If you could boil down every religion into a basic outline of bullet points then you compared these bullet points then you would find that they are basically saying the same thing. This is easily proveable with the Abrahamic religions. The stories may be different, but they are saying the same thing.
